4.6 Apple Business Connect
Why This Matters
Apple unified its business tools into Apple Business on April 14, 2026, merging Apple Business Connect, Essentials, and Manager into a single platform across 200+ countries. When an iPhone user asks Siri "find a plumber near me" or types a business name into Safari's address bar, the results come from Apple Business data -- not Google. If you're not set up here, you're invisible to half of Australia's smartphone users in their default apps.
Apple Maps is a separate system with separate data. Being on Google does nothing for Apple. You must manage both independently.
Step-by-Step
Create your Apple Business account
Go to business.apple.com. Sign in with your Apple ID (or create one). This is the unified dashboard that replaced the old Business Connect portal.
Claim your business listing
Search for your business. If it exists, claim it. If it doesn't, create a new listing. Apple may already have a basic listing from data aggregators -- claiming it gives you control over what people see.
Verify ownership
Apple verifies via phone call, email, or documentation depending on the business type. This usually takes 1--3 business days. You cannot edit your listing until verification is complete.
Complete your profile
Fill in everything:
- Business name, address, phone -- use your canonical NAP (same as Google, same as every directory)
- Categories -- choose the most specific category available for your primary service
- Hours -- including special hours for holidays
- Description -- clear, concise, no keyword stuffing
Add high-quality photos
Apple emphasises brand consistency and visual quality. Upload your logo, cover photo, and at least 3--5 photos of your business, team, or work. High-resolution photos and accurate attributes are Apple's primary "prominence" signals for ranking.
Connect to your booking system
Apple Business supports action links -- including booking URLs. Add your booking page URL so customers can go from Apple Maps directly to scheduling an appointment. This removes friction and captures leads who would otherwise just look and leave.
Apple Business data feeds into Maps, Siri voice responses, Safari address bar suggestions, Spotlight search on every iPhone, and even Wallet for businesses that offer passes or loyalty cards. One listing powers the entire ecosystem.
Apple Maps Ads are launching summer 2026 in the US and Canada, with potential expansion to Australia. Getting your listing complete and optimised now means you'll be ready if and when paid placements become available in your market.
You're Done When
- Your business is claimed and verified on Apple Business
- All profile fields are complete (name, address, phone, hours, categories, description)
- At least 5 high-quality photos are uploaded
- Your booking URL is linked as an action
- Your NAP matches your Google Business Profile and all other directory listings exactly
