Phase 3~1 hourEasy
3.1 Google Search Console
Prerequisites
Before you start:
- A live website with content (Phase 2 complete)
- Access to your domain’s DNS settings
- A Google account
Step-by-Step
Create your Search Console account
Go to search.google.com/search-console. Click ‘Add a property.’ Choose the Domain property type (not URL prefix) — this covers all versions of your domain.
Verify ownership via DNS
Google gives you a TXT record to add to your DNS. Go to your registrar, add the record, click verify. Usually works within an hour.
Submit your sitemap
Sitemaps menu > enter yourdomain.com.au/sitemap.xml > Submit.
Review initial data
Check the Performance report, Pages report, and Core Web Vitals. Data takes 2–3 days to populate.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Not submitting a sitemap — speeds up indexing significantly
- Using URL prefix instead of Domain — Domain covers all subdomains and protocols
- Ignoring the data — check monthly at minimum
DNS Propagation
Don’t panic if verification fails immediately. DNS changes can take 5 minutes to several hours to propagate. Wait 15 minutes and try again.
That's a solid afternoon's work.
We knock it out before lunch. Literally.
