8.1 Google Tag Manager

Step-by-Step

Create GTM account and container

Go to tagmanager.google.com. Create an account and a Web container.

Install the GTM snippet

Two code snippets: one in the head, one after the body tag. For WordPress: GTM4WP plugin.

Create your GA4 tag

New Tag > Google Tag > enter your GA4 Measurement ID > trigger: All Pages. Remove any direct GA4 code.

Preview, test, and publish

Use Preview mode to confirm tags fire. Then Submit to go live.
